For surround sound
speaker systems, in-ceiling speakers are the most invisible speaker type available
because they are located above you flush-mounted inside your
ceiling. They are usually round and smaller
in size than most in-wall surround sound speakers.
Theoretically, you could install an entire voice-matched 5.1,
6.1, or 7.1 channel in-wall/in-ceiling surround sound speaker
system entirely hidden from view above inside your ceiling and
walls!
►Installing ceiling speakers
require more [expertise, expense, difficulty, and/or patience] to properly install
them than other types of speakers, especially if you are retrofitting existing construction.
[Check out
the ceiling speaker hole cutter saw
drill attachment from Smart Home that's pictured at the top left of this
page!] Depending on your
particular home theater room setup and your stage of construction, you may
also have to
deal
with
fishing and running
speaker cables through
the walls and ceilings! Be sure to buy
UL listed CL-3 rated in-wall speaker wire if you will be running
speaker wires inside the walls, ceilings, and floors to ensure that your
speaker wiring is up to electrical code!
